PoINT Storage Manager is an intelligent, technology and vendor-independent data and storage management solution. Based on a user-specific set of rules, data in a tiered storage architecture is automatically transferred to the appropriate secondary storage systems and archived.
The increasing demands on speed, availability and capacity of storage solutions are offset by high cost pressure. With the help of the PoINT Storage Manager, acquisition and operating costs can be reduced by combining different storage systems in a tiered storage architecture.
The optimization of storage resources and the flexible integration of vendor-independent storage technologies helps to avoid expensive storage expansion of high-performance primary storage in order to meet the company-specific requirements of today.
As the appreciation of data and information changes over time, so too does the hardware requirements associated with the data. Typically, data can be moved from primary storage to the next storage tier after 30 days, and archived for additional 60 days. The tiered tier architecture takes the data lifecycle into account and uses the optimal storage technology for each cycle cycle. Often, up to 80% of the data is inactive, so that this amount of data can be moved from the primary storage to a subordinate storage tier.
With the help of customizable policies, data can be efficiently and effectively managed within automated file tiering and storage capacities can be used with maximum efficiency. In addition, both operational and legal compliance are complied with.
The file tiering solution PoINT Storage Manager also reduces backup and recovery times and reduces associated costs through integrated replication and archiving. As a result of Automated File Tiering, there is additional potential for savings through reduced staff costs resulting from optimizing the workflow.

The Archive Edition of PoINT Storage Manager focuses on archiving Windows NTFS-based storage systems in a two-tiered storage architecture (HSM). As secondary storage, HD NAS systems, optical libraries and tape loaders from all major manufacturers can be integrated.
PoINT Storage Manager - Migration Edition
The Migration Edition is specially designed for the unique File System Migration. A migration may become necessary if a storage system is outdated or, for example, expiring support contracts should not be extended. An uninterrupted migration even allows a change of primary storage without unnecessary interruptions and disruptions of the operation.
PoINT Jukebox Manager - file system for optical
The PoINT Jukebox Manager offers a solution for secure data storage on optical media in jukeboxes as well as single drives in conjunction with automated media monitoring. High data availability is ensured by media copy, mirroring and clustering.
