migRaven, the fast and flexible file server tool

migRaven.one for cleaning up and migrating complex NTFS directory and authorization structures

Migration and consolidation for file servers

The data on the file servers of large organizations has often grown historically and over the years has reached a considerable complexity that overwhelms users and administrators alike. Inevitably, parallel structures, redundancies and incorrect access rights arise. Eliminating the single, accidentally detected bug does not help here. But often, due to lack of possibilities, the actual state is still recorded. At the latest during a file server migration or the preparations for an IAM system, the consistency of these structures should receive special attention.

Migration and consolidation
data and permissions

migRaven.one stands for a holistic restructuring of data and access rights in the Microsoft environments of large organizations. Data, directories, users and access rights are recorded as a complete structure and optimized using graph theoretic approaches.

The Best Practice Report shows the structural inconsistencies of large authorization structures.

In the Best Practice Report, important parameters such as authorization depth, inheritance interruptions, direct authorizations and orphaned ACEs are processed in order to make it possible to draw conclusions about the actual status of your authorization structure.

migRaven.one - for Windows

Analysis

migRaven.one initially provides analyzes of your entire folder and rights structure. Various reports such as the Best Practice Report and the Obsolete Data Report provide you with comprehensive information about your current situation. Whether overly complex directory structures, data heaps, incorrect authorizations, orphaned AD objects or recursive group memberships - migRaven.one reveals the causes of your problems and thus enables the first step towards the desired clean-up process.

Among other things, the Obsolete Data Report shows the proportion of outdated, obsolete data on the file system.

The results of the Obsolete Data Report allow you to see in advance how many of your data and directories are outdated or obsolete. The goal of every migration with migRaven.one is the sustainable simplification of these important data structures.

consolidation

Thanks to a special graph database, migRaven can simulate complete directory and authorization structures, thus ensuring a comfortable and secure redesign. Data owners and administrators work together to revise folder structures, sort out old data and correct access rights. MigRaven.one coordinates the cooperation and considers the wishes and needs of all participants equally. This results in a significantly simpler data, folder and rights structure within a very short time.

Data owners are integrated into the migRaven.one migration process via a web interface.

Migration

The migration of a file system at migRaven.one is basically linked to an automatic restructuring of all access rights. Similarly, directory structures can be simplified and data separated by data retention. With migRaven.one you optimize your complete file storage instead of just moving data from A to B.

migRaven.one - for Novell

Migrate from Novell to Microsoft

With this migRaven.one Edition, the future-proof transfer of a Novell file system into a Microsoft file server system according to Microsoft Best Practice becomes possible. A new target structure can be planned and then provided with new consistent and efficient access rights. migRaven.one uses intelligent role mining to create clean NTFS access permissions.

Novell is out of the race:

Despite a better authorization system, sooner or later the migration to NTFS file servers from Microsoft, NetApp or EMC is due - and all access rights must be rebuilt! migRaven.one automates this complex process and transfers its Novell access rights to the Windows world - fast, consistent, strictly according to Microsoft Best Practice.

Microsoft Best Practice

migRaven perfectly masters the Microsoft Best Practices of Authorization. Taking account of authorization depth, list permissions, access-based enumeration, tokenize and more, an always consistent authorization structure is created according to your specifications.

This is how Novell role mining works

The old Novell access permissions can be imported into migRaven.one via Trustee.xml. Then migRaven.one forms in its database according to your specifications from the existing Novell permissions a structure of all authorizations, authorization groups and auxiliary authorizations, such as the elaborate list permissions. The authorizations can be directly viewed in migRaven.one, reviewed and revised if necessary.

After the validation, you will be written to the ACLs of all directories within a very short time at the press of a button, which will make the new, clean authorizations effective.

I used migRaven to convert the user rights of a file server from local Windows2000 users into a 2012 domain structure, 2 days of work together with an employee from Aikux, 1 minute to switch off the old server and the thing was done - top tool together with on-site support , saves a lot of time, the authorizations are at the latest level (tidied up immediately) - what more could you want?

After 8MAN went live, our goal was to migrate our existing directory permissions to 8MAN. In order to minimize the time required for the migration, we decided to use migRaven. In cooperation with aikux consultants, a migration concept was developed within a few days and the necessary know-how for the project was communicated. The project could then be successfully completed within a reasonable time frame and completely independently. Thanks to migRaven, we were also able to optimize our directory structure as well as purge the permissions for obsolete, redundant and wrong permissions. Very pleasing was that there were no failures or disturbances. The cooperation with aikux was very professional and expedient.
